In our last post, we discussed some areas for improvement in FTB version 2.7. After a lot of thought, we've decided that a simple update isn't enough. We're pivoting completely. This won't be just another version—it's a total reboot of the game.
The big question is: Why? We have a few key reasons.
Let's be honest, the first version of the game was a demo that we released into production. While it was fun and received positive feedback, it wasn't a finished product. We released the game and built on it over time, adding game modes, AI, improved graphics, and new mechanics as we went.
Now, with all the community feedback we've gathered, we have a clear vision for the final game. But bringing that vision to life requires a fundamental change. We can't be constrained by the old version's API, and we don't want to hold back on major improvements just to keep the current game working.
For a multiplayer game, a successful launch is critical for building a community. We completely missed this. We released the game with zero marketing and kept working on it as we went. We didn't leverage the power of a new game launch, and for a game designed for up to 16 players, that's a huge problem. It's why so many of you found yourselves in empty rooms.
We've decided to remove the game from the Google Play Store for now. We are actively working on the reboot and plan to share our progress from time to time on social media and here on our devlogs.
When will it be ready? That's still to be determined. But it's time to give the "production demo" that so many of you enjoyed the attention it deserves and transform it into a truly polished and complete game.
